It's time to reflect about the past gardening year. When comparing 2008 with the year before, there are quite a few differences despite having similar plants.
- Januar

In January there wasn't much going in in my garden itself. There was a little bit of snow, alternating with spring-like temperatures. Perfect to take a couple trips and see what's going on with nature. At one point I am going to get such a colorful cabbage also for my garde. It does look very nice in winter.
- Februar

Also in February the weather couldn't decide if it was still winter or already spring. From one week to the next we went from ice to the first blooming crocus. February was also the "bird month". Never before had I so many birds at once in my garden.
- Maerz / March
- April
- Juni

We took a few short trips in June in our area. There was always something new and interesting to see. In my garden the hydrengeas had countless blooms. Also the daylilies were in their prime. I bought a few more later in the year. I hope they are going to bloom in the new year.
- Juli

In July we went on a couple short vacation trips to the ocean. Once we stayed in Virginia. The other time we visited for the first time Delaware. We enjoyed sun, beach, and water. We also liked visiting many tourist sites.
- August

August was a butterfly month. I never had so many different ones before in my garden. I also had some hummingbird for the first time.
- September

September had the first singns of the end of summer. Most flowers were done blooming. Only a few were still pretty. Sedum started to bloom. The first red leaves are showing how close fall already is.
- Oktober

A few new blooms: the orange zinnia was blooming until November. The small toad lily had its first blooms. And also the salvia showed its strongest blue.
- November

Leaves are the main focal point in November. My banana plant shows the first frost damage. It still looks pretty good though.
- Dezember

One morning the was a little bit ice around for a few hours. My first helleborus got its first bud. I think it was freezing too much though for it to bloom or I must have missed it. There are several more in waiting position though.
Ich wuensche allen ein Frohes Neues Jahr 2009!
Have a Happy New Year 2009!
